Montclair educator Drury Thorp has earned a spot in the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

Thorp teaches at Watchung Elementary School. She is known for her innovative, student-centered approach that sparks curiosity, critical thinking and civic engagement. In 2023, she earned the Judy Weston Award for Inspired Teaching.

The Class of 2025 features a wide range of Jersey talent and achievement. The honorees include Mary Alice Williams, pioneering broadcast journalist, CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash, culinary innovator David Burke, musicians such as the Jonas Brothers and sports icons like Olympic hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Also recognized are public service leaders, including Lieutenant Governor Sheila Y. Oliver and former Treasury Secretary William Edward Simon.

Montclair has long been well represented in the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Yogi Berra, Buzz Aldrin, Bobbi Brown and, most recently, Josh Weston have been inducted.

“From world-renowned talents to community leaders, this year’s honorees reflect the full spectrum of what it means to be a hero,” said NJHOF Chairman Jon F. Hanson. “NJHOF exists to provide the next generation with role models who show that excellence can be achieved on the stage, in the classroom, and in neighborhoods across our state.”
