Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is holding on to a familiar piece of his past — his so-called “Good Luck Truck.” The worn pickup, once a regular sight during his statewide travels, remains close by as a personal reminder of his long and eventful political career.
.Cuomo, who says he’s had the Bronco for years, made campaign stops in the vehicle and rode in it to his voting site Tuesday. The candidate said he’s been ridiculed for having the same truck O.J. Simpson used when fleeing law enforcement in California in 1994. But Cuomo said in the video that his Bronco is different because it has a black and gold stripe on the sides. “That clearly distinguishes it from the O.J. Bronco,” Cuomo said.
The pickup truck, which Cuomo often used during his years on the campaign trail and throughout his tenure as governor, remains a constant presence in his life. The vehicle has been spotted near his home and at several recent events, serving as a reminder of his long political journey across New York State
Often spotted near Cuomo’s home or at occasional public appearances, the truck has become a symbol of endurance for the former governor. Insiders say the vehicle represents his working-class image and connection to everyday New Yorkers, something Cuomo often emphasized throughout his three terms in office.
“It’s more than just a truck,” said one former aide. “It’s a symbol of his story — his drive, his roots, and his belief in hard work.”
Since his 2021 resignation amid sexual harassment allegations, Cuomo has largely stayed out of the political spotlight. However, his continued attachment to the “Good Luck Truck” has drawn attention from political observers, who see it as a subtle sign that the former governor hasn’t completely closed the door on public life.
“The truck is symbolic,” said one New York political analyst. “It’s a reminder of where he came from and, possibly, where he still hopes to go.”
For now, Cuomo’s future in politics remains uncertain. But his “Good Luck Truck” stays parked close — a steadfast companion from his years in public service, and perhaps, a sign that he’s not done traveling New York’s political roads just yet.
