Investigation Underway into Mysterious Family Deaths in NH Home

MADBURY, N.H. —Four family members, including two children, were found dead at a Seacoast home Monday night, authorities said.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said when state troopers arrived at the scene of the home in Madbury at 8:21 p.m. they found the bodies of four family members: two children and two adults. Each of the deceased family members appears to have suffered gunshot wounds. All four were pronounced dead at the scene. A third child, a toddler, was alive and was not hurt.

Detectives are investigating this event as a possible murder-suicide.

Madbury is two miles north of the University of New Hampshire in Durham and 15 miles west of Portsmouth.

The crime scene is in a residential neighborhood and when WMUR crews arrived around 9:45 p.m. police had yet to put up any crime tape. Police officers could be seen going in and out of the home and at least a half dozen police cruisers were in the area.

The attorney general’s office said autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday. Authorities said the identities of the family members would not be released until next of kin is notified.

Investigators said there is no known threat to the public.
