Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media on Wednesday evening, his final media availability ahead of Saturday’s season opener vs. LSU.

Swinney gave an injury update on senior cornerback Jeadyn Lukus. The veteran was hurt and missed most of camp, including each of the two actual scrimmages, but Swinney said he was able to get some live work over the last couple of weeks and “looks good.”
“He got behind early, but he was able to get some scrimmage work in, so that was good,” Swinney said. “He got some live work in. He missed the two actual scrimmages, but we were able to do a couple periods of live work that he got. So, he’s been rolling for the last two weeks, and looks good.”
Swinney was asked if Lukus would be Clemson’s No. 3 cornerback behind Avieon Terrell and Ashton Hampton.
“He might be No. 2, he might be No. 1. I don’t know, we’ll see,” Swinney said. “He’s definitely one of them, for sure. He’s a good one.”

Lukus, a former five-star prospect, played in all 14 games last year but was once again slowed by the same nagging injuries that that plagued him before. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder finished the 2024 season with 33 tackles (1.5 for loss), an interception and eight pass breakups. He started 10 games last season, but lost his starting spot to Hampton late in the year.
Lukus heads into the 2025 season having logged 49 tackles (2.5 for loss), 11 pass breakups and two interceptions in 808 career defensive snaps across 32 games (14 starts).
Saturday’s game between fourth-ranked Clemson and No. 9 LSU at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ABC.
