LOS ANGELES — Lakers star LeBron James remained out for Tuesday night’s 120-106 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves because of left foot arthritis and a right hip contusion.
James went through his pregame shooting routine at Crypto.com Arena prior to the Lakers’ team walk-through and determined he needed more time to get treatment on his left foot before playing in a game, coach JJ Redick said.
It was James’ third straight missed game, the longest stretch the 23-year veteran has been out since he was sidelined the first 14 games of the season with sciatica in his lower back and down his right leg.
The Los Angeles Lakers secured an important victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves despite missing their superstar LeBron James for the third consecutive game. The matchup showcased the Lakers’ depth and resilience as they managed to control the game and deliver a strong performance without their veteran leader.
LeBron’s absence has been a key talking point in the National Basketball Association community. The four-time NBA champion has been dealing with ongoing injury management, and the Lakers coaching staff has taken a cautious approach to ensure he returns fully healthy for the crucial stretch of the season. While fans continue to wait for updates on his return, the team has shown it can still compete at a high level.
During the game, several Lakers players stepped up to fill the leadership gap. The team maintained strong defensive pressure and executed efficiently on offense, keeping the Timberwolves from gaining momentum. Their balanced scoring and disciplined play allowed them to maintain control throughout most of the contest.
Redick said James is considered day to day going forward. The Lakers’ next game is Thursday at home against the Chicago Bulls.
Rui Hachimura started in James’ place for the Lakers, who also were without both of their backup big men against Minnesota, as Maxi Kleber (lumbar back strain) and Jaxson Hayes (back soreness) were late scratches.ad_2]
