Witnesses told Channel 9 a gray Kia sedan was going east on Trade Street. Ball was going west on Trade when he tried to take left onto the one-way Tryon Street, which was when the collision happened.
Law enforcement and emergency crews responded to the scene. Officials and eyewitnesses indicated that Ball was uninjured and later left the area in another vehicle after the crash. One person from the other vehicle involved was reportedly transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not yet released an official statement on fault or any potential citations, and it remains unclear what caused the collision beyond what’s visible in the crash footage.
Social media users and fans have been reacting to the footage and details as they emerge, with many expressing relief that Ball escaped the crash unhurt. Other details — such as whether any legal consequences will follow or how the damage will be addressed — have not yet been confirmed by authorities.
Witnesses said they saw Ball get out of the Hummer and get in a Lamborghini.
When Ball got out of the Hummer and into the Lambo, he appeared OK.
The Kia and Hummer were towed away.
One person had non-life-threatening injuries, MEDIC said.
Expect delays along the Gold Line due to the crash that’s blocking the eastbound and westbound tracks at Trade and Tryon. Streetcars will operate between CTC and Sunnyside stations.
