Two teams on opposite ends of Major League Soccer’s Western Conference standings meet up on Saturday night, as the Houston Dynamo play host to San Diego FC.

San Diego is continuing to have a memorable first season in the league. With a plethora of excellent players, the team has hung arond the top of the West for most of the season, and are certified favorites to go far in the MLS Cup Playoffs. The team is currently one of five teams in the conference to have already clinched a postseason position. The only question is whether San Diego will not only host a game in the first round, but also if it can clinch the top spot in the West.
The team comes into Saturday tied with the Vancouver Whitecaps for first, though Vancouver has one more match than San Diego remaining.
On the other side, the Dynamo are playing for their lives. Thanks to losses in two of the team’s last three matches, and going winless in nine of its last 11, Houston sits 12th in the West, but is just two points back of the San Jose Earthquakes for ninth.
