Hornets Cruise Past Celtics with a 118-89 Victory

BOSTON — — Kon Knueppel scored 20 points and the Charlotte Hornets extended their win streak to six games with a a 118-89 win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.

Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball each added 18 points. Coby White finished with 17 points and six assists to help Charlotte (32-31) move above .500 for the first time since Oct. 26.

The Hornets never trailed and led by as many as 29 points while committing only five turnovers.

Derrick White led the Celtics with 29 points. Jaylen Brown added 20 points and 11 rebounds as Boston’s win streak was stopped at three games.

From the opening quarter, the Hornets established control of the game. Their fast-paced offense and efficient shooting allowed them to build an early lead, while the Celtics struggled to find consistent scoring opportunities. Charlotte’s aggressive defense forced multiple turnovers, converting them into fast-break points that energized both the team and the crowd.

By halftime, the Hornets had already created a comfortable cushion, maintaining a double-digit advantage that kept the Celtics on the back foot.

Charlotte’s balanced scoring attack played a key role in the victory. Several players contributed significantly on the offensive end, combining accurate perimeter shooting with strong drives to the basket. The Hornets moved the ball effectively, creating open looks and keeping the Celtics’ defense scrambling.

Their ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities and maintain a high shooting percentage further widened the gap as the game progressed.

Despite entering the matchup with strong expectations, the Celtics had difficulty matching the Hornets’ energy and execution. Missed shots, turnovers, and defensive lapses made it difficult for Boston to mount a comeback.

The Celtics attempted to adjust their strategy in the second half, but Charlotte’s relentless pace and defensive pressure prevented them from gaining any meaningful momentum.

The Celtics (41-21) came out sluggish playing in their sixth game in nine days, shooting just 38% (30 of 79) from the the field and committing 16 turnovers that led to 21 Charlotte points. Boston also was mostly cold from the 3-point line, connecting on only 10 of 36 attempts

Despite playing on the second night of a back-to-back, the Hornets sprinted out to an 8-0 lead as the Celtics missed their first eight shots.

Boston’s shooting issues continued into the second quarter, dipping as low as 25% at one point. Charlotte, which turned the ball over only twice in the first half, took advantage and built a 64-43 halftime lead.

The Environmental Impact of Cryptocurrency Mining

Introduction
Cryptocurrency mining has exploded in popularity, becoming a cornerstone of the decentralized finance landscape. However, this technological revolution has not come without repercussions. As the demand for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum surges, so too does the environmental cost associated with mining these digital assets.

The Process of Cryptocurrency Mining

Cryptocurrency mining entails solving complex mathematical problems to validate transactions on a blockchain. Miners use powerful computers and specialized hardware—often known as mining rigs—to compete in solving these problems. As the operation becomes more competitive, miners regularly upgrade their equipment, which contributes to an increase in energy consumption.

Energy Consumption

The electricity required for cryptocurrency mining is staggering. According to various estimates, Bitcoin mining alone consumes more energy than some entire countries, leading to concerns about sustainability and the strain on local power grids. For example, it is estimated that Bitcoin mining can use more energy annually than countries like Argentina or the Netherlands. This phenomenon raises critical questions about the future viability of such energy-intensive practices.

Environmental Consequences

The extensive energy consumption associated with cryptocurrency mining often relies on fossil fuels, such as coal and natural gas. This reliance leads to significant carbon emissions, exacerbating global warming and contributing to climate change. Additionally, the mining equipment generates heat, which can lead to increased temperatures in local ecosystems, affecting wildlife and vegetation.

Water Usage and Pollution

Cryptocurrency mining facilities often require a massive amount of cooling to keep machines from overheating. This leads to an increase in water consumption, further straining local water supplies. Additionally, improper disposal of mining equipment can result in electronic waste, which poses another environmental hazard.

Efforts Towards Sustainability

In response to these environmental challenges, various stakeholders are working towards more sustainable mining practices. Initiatives include the development of energy-efficient mining hardware, the use of renewable energy sources, and the implementation of regulatory measures aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of mining operations.

Conclusion

While the potential benefits of cryptocurrencies are significant, the environmental implications cannot be overlooked. As the world increasingly turns to digital currencies, it is crucial to adopt more sustainable practices in cryptocurrency mining. By prioritizing renewable energy sources and responsible mining operations, we can mitigate the environmental impact and pave the way for a more sustainable digital economy.

LSU Faces Oklahoma in SEC Tournament Quarterfinals on Friday

GREENVILLE, S.C. – After finishing the regular season with 26 wins, the sixth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team prepares for the postseason that begins with the Tigers taking on seventh-ranked Oklahoma in quarterfinal action at the 2026 SEC Tournament Friday afternoon inside the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

The Tigers and Sooners will meet at 1:30 p.m. CT for quarterfinal action on ESPN with Ryan Ruocco (pxp), Rebecca Lobo (analyst) and Holly Rowe (reporter) on the call. Fans can also listen to the LSU Sports Radio Network with Patrick Wright and Shaeeta Williams calling the action.

Both teams will face off for the fourth time in series history and the second time in the 2025-26 season. LSU won the most recent contest, 91-72, in Norman. Oklahoma downed the Tigers in the first matchup on Dec. 7, 2019, 90-68 in Norman during the Big 12/SEC Challenge. LSU tied the series at 1-1 in 2024 with a 107-100 victory inside the PMAC before overtaking the series lead in 2025.

LSU comes into the 2026 SEC Tournament with a 42-45 record since the 1980 edition of the conference tournament. The Tigers have won the SEC title two times in program history (1991 & 2003).

LSU is the No. 4 seed this season and holds a Top 4 seed for the fifth straight time under Coach Kim Mulkey. With Mulkey at the helm, LSU is 4-4 at the SEC Tournament. In her 26 seasons as a Division I head coach, Mulkey has won 11 conference tournaments (all at Baylor).

The SEC announced guard MiLaysia Fulwiley as the Sixth Woman of the Year on March 3. She became the third Tiger to earn the recognition (Sylvia Fowles, 2005 & Allison Hightower, 2008). Fulwiley also became the third SEC player to earn the award twice (Liz Sherwood of Vanderbilt, 2006-07; Jennifer O’Neill of Kentucky, 2014-15).

Fulwiley ranks 3rd in the SEC and 14th nationally in steals with 93. LSU’s single season leader in steals, Raigyne Moncrief Louis finished the 2016-17 season with 107 steals in 32 games played. With four steals against No. 3 South Carolina, Fulwiley jumped into the all-time top-10 at LSU for steals in a season, currently ranking 3rd among LSU players.

Senior Flau’jae Johnson and junior Mikaylah Williams both earned spots on the All-SEC First Team, while ZaKiyah Johnson was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team. The first and second teams consist of 10 players and the freshman team recognizes five players. Flau’jae and Williams were named in consecutive seasons, while ZaKiyah was the ninth LSU freshman to be named to the all-freshman team.

After eclipsing 1,900 points against No. 4 Texas and becoming the 7th LSU Tiger to eclipse that milestone, Flau’jae inches closer to the 2,000 point mark. With 1,900 points, Flau’jae joined the likes of Joyce Walker (2,906), Seimone Augustus (2,702), Julie Gross (2,488), Cornelia Gayden (2,451), Sylvia Fowles (2,234) and Khayla Pointer (1,934). Johnson is 21 points away from joining five LSU legends as 2,000 point scorers. Flau’jae ranks 14th among active D1 players in points scored with 1,979.

Through 30 games, LSU has averaged 94.5 points per game, which leads the nation. That mark would break the SEC record in scoring average set by Georgia in 1986 (32 games; 2,855 points, 89.2 average). The Tigers through its 30 contests have scored 2,834 points.

LSU leads the country in 3 statistical categories: bench points per game (39.1), rebound margin (18.0), and scoring offense (94.5).

The Emotional Rollercoaster of Crypto Trading: Managing the Highs and Lows

The Emotional Rollercoaster of Crypto Trading: Managing the Highs and Lows

Cryptocurrency trading is not for the faint-hearted. The digital currency market is known for its extreme volatility, which can lead to rapid emotional swings for traders. Whether you are a seasoned investor or a newcomer trying to navigate this fast-paced world, understanding and managing your emotional responses to wins and losses is crucial for long-term success.

The Highs of Crypto Trading

One of the most exhilarating aspects of trading cryptocurrencies is the potential for substantial profits. A well-timed trade can lead to significant gains, ultimately causing feelings of euphoria and excitement. These emotional highs can encourage traders to take more risks, potentially resulting in greater rewards. Here are some common emotions experienced during the highs:

  • Joy: Sudden price surges can bring immense joy, with traders feeling victorious and elated.
  • Confidence: Profitable trades can lead to overconfidence, which may result in reckless decision-making.
  • FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): Watching others profit can trigger anxiety and lead traders to make hasty decisions.

The Lows of Crypto Trading

Conversely, the lows of crypto trading can be just as intense. Sudden drops in prices can lead to feelings of despair, fear, and anxiety. The risk of loss can evoke a range of negative emotions that may affect personal and professional lives. Common emotional reactions during the lows include:

  • Anxiety: Fear of losing money can result in obsessive monitoring of the market and desperate reactions.
  • Regret: Traders often look back on decisions that didn’t pan out, leading to feelings of remorse.
  • Panic: Rapid declines may trigger impulsive actions, such as selling at a loss out of fear.

Strategies for Managing the Emotional Rollercoaster

Managing the emotional highs and lows of crypto trading is essential for maintaining a balanced approach. Here are some strategies to consider:

  • Set Realistic Goals: Create attainable trading goals to help maintain a perspective on what is achievable.
  • Develop a Trading Plan: Establish clear strategies for entry and exit to reduce the influence of emotions on decision-making.
  • Practice Mindfulness: Techniques such as meditation and deep breathing can help manage stress and anxiety.
  • Limit Exposure: Avoid investing more than you can afford to lose to lessen emotional attachment to your trades.
  • Seek Community Support: Engaging with fellow traders can provide a support system and help normalize the ups and downs of trading.

Conclusion

The emotional rollercoaster of crypto trading is a reality that every trader must face. Acknowledging the intense emotions associated with trading can help you cultivate resilience and develop better strategies in the long run. By managing both the highs and lows, you can enhance your trading experience and contribute to a sustainable investment journey in the ever-evolving world of cryptocurrencies.

Bears Miss Out on Free-Agent Center as He Joins Chargers

The Chicago Bears have missed out on one of their potential top targets for a replacement to center Drew Dalman, as news broke Friday morning that free agent center Tyler Biadasz has signed a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport broke the news, as Biadasz found a new home after recently being released by the Washington Commanders, and signed with the Chargers on a 3-year, $30 million deal before the start of free agency next week.

Biadasz visited the Bears this week shortly after the news of Dalman’s sudden retirement after just one season with the Bears, but ultimately found a home quickly with the Chargers. Chicago will now have to pivot their plans at the center position, but still have plenty of options available including Tyler Linderbaum, most recently with the Baltimore Ravens who the team has been linked to since Dalman’s retirement.

By signing the veteran center, the Chargers address one of their major priorities heading into the new season. A reliable center plays a crucial role in coordinating the offensive line, protecting the quarterback, and establishing a strong running game.

The Chargers’ front office has been focused on improving stability in the middle of the line, and the addition of an experienced center is expected to provide leadership, better communication, and improved protection schemes.

For the Bears, missing out on the free agent means the team must continue exploring other options to strengthen their offensive line. Chicago has made improving protection and run blocking a major focus during the offseason as they aim to build a more balanced offense.

Team officials may now turn to other free agents, trade possibilities, or upcoming draft prospects to fill the gap at the center position.

The decision could reshape offseason planning for both teams. The Chargers gain a player who can anchor the line and support their offensive system, while the Bears must reassess their strategy and look for alternative solutions.

It has been a busy week for the Bears who not only saw Dalman retire but also on Thursday made two big moves, trading veteran wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, and releasing veteran linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. Both moves save Chicago significant salary cap space, as they look to fill holes on the offensive and defensive line, as well as the defensive secondary where they have 4 safeties slated to hit free agency.

How Digital Currency is Influencing Art and Music

The rapid development of cryptocurrency has not only transformed financial systems but also significantly impacted various cultural domains, particularly art and music. As digital currencies evolve, they are reshaping traditional practices in these creative fields, providing both opportunities and challenges.

1. The Rise of NFTs in Art

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have emerged as a revolutionary force in the art world. Artists can now tokenize their work, creating digital certificates of ownership that can be bought and sold on blockchain platforms. This new medium allows:

  • Authentication of digital art, making it easier for artists to prove provenance.
  • Direct sales to collectors, reducing reliance on galleries and auction houses.
  • The opportunity for royalties on resales, enabling artists to benefit from future sales of their works.

Prominent sales, such as Beeple’s digital artwork fetching $69 million at Christie’s, exemplify the monetary potential of NFTs, while also highlighting the cultural significance of digital art.

2. Music in the Age of Cryptocurrency

Just as in the art world, cryptocurrency is redefining how music artists engage with fans and monetize their work. Platforms such as Audius and Zora enable musicians to:

  • Upload music without intermediaries, allowing for a greater share of revenue.
  • Engage directly with their audiences through tokenized experiences or special content.
  • Offer exclusive access to concerts and merchandise for cryptocurrency holders.

Moreover, using blockchain technology assists in copyright management, ensuring that artists receive fair compensation for their creations.

3. Cultural Shifts and Community Building

Digital currency fosters new communities and cultural movements. The collaborative nature of blockchain technology allows artists and musicians to connect, share resources, and engage in collective projects. Some emergent cultural trends include:

  • Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs): Art and music collectives that govern themselves through community voting using cryptocurrency.
  • New artistic genres: The fusion of technology and creativity, leading to innovative forms of expression.
  • Online communities: Platforms for support and collaboration, breaking geographical barriers.

4. Criticism and Challenges

While the intersection of crypto and culture offers exciting possibilities, it also faces criticism. Concerns over:

  • Environmental impact: The energy consumption of blockchain networks has raised sustainability questions.
  • Market volatility: The uncertainty of cryptocurrencies can pose risks to artists and investors.
  • Access and inclusion: There is potential for a digital divide, where only those with resources benefit from these advancements.

Conclusion

As cryptocurrencies continue to grow, their influence on art and music is undeniable. From empowering creators and fostering innovation to presenting new challenges, the relationship between digital currency and cultural expression is still evolving. The future promises further transformation, making it essential for artists and musicians to navigate this new landscape thoughtfully.

Ryan Pepiot on St. Petersburg and Tropicana Field

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — As a team and an organization, the Rays are thrilled about returning to Tropicana Field this season after spending last year outside at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

But you might not find anyone in Tampa Bay’s clubhouse who is more excited about getting back to the Trop than Ryan Pepiot.

After a season in which he seemed to draw an inordinate number of the club’s sweltering early-afternoon starts at Steinbrenner Field, he’s ready to get back under the tilted roof, where it’s 72 degrees at first pitch no matter the day or time.

“I’ll tell you what, I cannot wait for air conditioning and my mound — not my mound, but the mound,” Pepiot said, smiling. “I love the Trop. I know some people don’t like it. I love it. It’s fantastic.”

Pepiot’s unironic appreciation for the Rays’ home dome is just one way in which the 28-year-old right-hander has come to embrace the Tampa Bay area, the city of St. Petersburg, the Rays and their fans as he enters his third season with the team.

Pepiot had no connection to the area before the Rays acquired him and Jonny DeLuca from the Dodgers in the December 2023 trade for Tyler Glasnow. He’d visited the Tampa Bay area for spring break in high school, and he went to a game at the Trop during one of those trips. But he was born and raised in Indiana, went to college at Butler, debuted for Los Angeles and spent his winters in Arizona to be closer to the Dodgers’ Spring Training complex.

Then came the trade. Pepiot and his wife, Lilia, had to decide whether to relocate. They thought about the impracticality of maintaining three residences, but they planned to rent in St. Petersburg and keep their place in Arizona.

Then they spent a little time in St. Petersburg.

“Two days later, my wife’s like, ‘All right, we can move here,’” Pepiot recalled.

After Pepiot’s first season with the Rays, they bought a condo near the waterfront in downtown St. Pete. It’s become their year-round home, complete with a view of Tropicana Field.

“I love St. Pete. I feel like I wake up on vacation every single day, and I get to work in the vacation spot,” Pepiot said. “There’s something therapeutic about the water every day. Being able to walk downtown and hit all my coffee shops, hit all my lunch spots and my dinner spots. I have my places where people know who I am, and they say hi.

“The people are just nice. And there’s just so many good causes around the area to support. I know how much people have given to the Rays, and I want to give back to them.”

He’s done exactly that, quickly becoming one of the more public-facing representatives of the team while also establishing himself as a reliable source of quality innings in the starting rotation.

“I try to do everything,” he said. “In the offseason, they always ask, ‘Hey, would you d–’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m there.’”

When it came time for the Capital One MLB Open in November, Pepiot represented the Rays alongside David Price. In January, he co-hosted an entire four-hour local sports talk radio show on WDAE. When the NHL Stadium Series came to Tampa in January for a matchup between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Boston Bruins, there was Pepiot at Raymond James Stadium alongside Junior Caminero and left-hander Ian Seymour.

“I wasn’t missing that,” Pepiot said. “That was so fun.”

Pepiot has also leaned into his standing to support charitable work in the community, from taking part in Reading With The Rays and Rays On The Runway events to supporting Feeding Tampa Bay, the Ronald McDonald House and GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa.

And when the Rays hosted their annual Fan Fest outside Tropicana Field last month, with players coming and going from camp in shifts, Pepiot spent the entire day participating in various events. That culminated with a stage show alongside DeLuca and brand engagement executive Brett Phillips.

With his words and actions, Pepiot has made it clear: There’s no place he’d rather be.

“The Rays took a big chance on me, put a lot of faith in me to come in and do what I have been able to do the last two years,” Pepiot said. “The belief they have and the personability the whole staff has in just embracing me and letting me be myself, I want to give back to that. Not just the team, but the city of St. Pete, the people of St. Pete.

“It’s a really good place to live,” he added, “and the Trop is a great place to pitch.”

Embracing the Uncool in His New Album Journey

Harry Styles doesn’t care if you think he’s cool. His string of recent public appearances leading up to the release of his new album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, which is out Friday, is proof.

Rather than project and maintain a carefully curated public image, Styles seems more concerned with earnestly navigating this next chapter of his career — and he couldn’t care less about what that looks like: He’s rocking ballet flats, dancing his heart out and getting really into marathon running. I’ve followed the “Aperture” singer through every phase of his solo music career and evolving public persona — from his early days as a deeply introspective singer-songwriter to his emergence as an over-the-top, theatrical pop performer — and this version hits different. It’s Styles at his most relaxed and assured.

A new Styles era is here — and it feels like his most joyful yet. Here are five moments from his Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally press run that stand out.

The joy of global dance parties

If there’s one thing Styles is going to do, it’s throw a series of disco-themed listening parties in cities around the world to ring in his new musical era. A sweaty, vibrant night spent dancing and connecting with strangers as Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally plays from start to finish? No notes.

Leaning into the uncool

Nonchalance? Out! Trying really hard and not caring who knows it? In! While chatting with author and fellow marathon runner Haruki Murakami for the March issue of Runner’s World, Styles opened up about masculinity — and his changing perception of it.

“We live in a time when making such an effort can be considered quite uncool, and there’s this romanticism that comes with the idea of being an artist, as if it’s this almost spiritual thing that just happens to you,” Styles said. “But in your work I see a lack of fear around being uncool.”

Styles decided to take after Murakami and care less about the public’s perception of him. He’d rather just do his own thing.

“When you write about sex and masculinity, your characters aren’t all experts at sex — there are a lot of scenes of them fumbling around. There’s an innocence to them, as well as vulnerability, and shame,” Styles added. “That has definitely changed the way I view being masculine and being vulnerable.”

A major choreographed moment

Miu Miu ballet flats?! A Chanel suit?! Hard-hitting choreography?! If this performance is any indication of what’s to come on his Together, Together world tour, then fans are in for a blissful treat. Styles made his triumphant return to the stage at the Brit Awards last week, where he performed “Aperture,” the lead single of his new album.

With his troupe of backup dancers in crop tops and vintage denim, Styles launched into a movement-heavy, synchronized dance sequence while sporting the biggest smile ever.

A playful nod to those hairline rumors

It’s a rumor that’s been heard ‘round the world: Did Styles get a hair transplant? During his Feb. 25 appearance on Brittany Broski’s Royal Court, the British pop star poked fun at the speculation with one cheeky line. When Broski playfully asked Styles if his teeth are fake, he said no, before quipping, “This hairline though …”

Setting up shop in New York City

The British pop star famously played a record-breaking 15 shows at Madison Square Garden as part of his Love On tour — but this time, he’s doubling that. As part of his upcoming Together, Together world tour in support of his new album, he’ll set up shop at MSG for a whopping 30 nights.

Though the residency has sparked backlash from fans who were disappointed to learn that the pop star wouldn’t be traveling to any other American city, it signals that Styles is marching to his own beat and doing what feels right for him.
