Carmel Christkindlmarkt Highlights on ‘TODAY’ Show This Friday

13Weather meteorologist Matt Standridge will be live at Christkindlmarkt to show off the city’s holiday spirit to a national audience.

CARMEL, Ind. — Central Indiana will take center stage as the “TODAY” show celebrates the holidays this week!

“TODAY” is bringing their “Merriest Main Street” segment to Carmel’s Christkindlmarkt on Friday, Dec. 19, and 13News will be there to welcome the show to the Hoosier State.

13Weather meteorologist Matt Standridge will be at the market during Friday’s show.

Watch on Friday as Standridge meets townspeople, tourists, carolers and speaks with Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam and Christkindlmarkt CEO Julia Davis.

Christkindlmarkt officials invited the public to visit the market to show off the city’s holiday spirit, though they noted Christkindlmarkt won’t be open for sales during the show.

The occasion is famous for its genuine cultural ambiance, with over 60 European-style booths providing traditional German cuisine, drinks, artisanal gifts, live performances, and festive amusements.

The TODAY show team is on location, directing viewers through the market’s holiday offerings and highlights directly from Carter Green in downtown Carmel. Scheduled to be broadcast in the show’s national morning lineup, the segment will offer viewers a front-row view of this holiday favorite’s sights and sounds.

Why This Is Important:
The market has become a holiday destination that locals and visitors alike must see, offering traditional German treats and gifts, seasonal entertainment, and family-friendly activities.

Organizers said about a quarter of a million people are expected at the Carmel Christkindlmarkt every year. The market is open through Christmas Eve, except for Mondays, Tuesdays and on Thanksgiving.

“TODAY” airs weekdays from 7-9 a.m. on WTHR Channel 13, followed by “TODAY 3rd Hour” from 9-10 a.m. and “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” from 10-11 a.m.
