“Many people think they know my story. But now, finally, it’s my turn to tell it,” says Grace Van Patten in the role of Knox for Hulu‘s forthcoming limited series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox.

In the first footage (below), the Tell Me Lies star makes her debut as Knox for the series that also boasts Knox as a producer behind the scenes, along with Monica Lewinsky.

The scripted series, inspired by actual events, spans 15 years to cover the time from Knox’s infamous murder accusation in Perugia, Italy, up to modern day. The trailer asks if the truth exits if no one believes it, and sees Van Patten saying, “For 15 years, I’ve been defined by something that I didn’t do.”

Here’s the brief logline: “A limited series inspired by the story of how Amanda Knox was wrongfully convicted for the tragic murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher, and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.”

Sharon Horgan, John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico and Roberta Mattei round out the cast.

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox premieres Wednesday, Aug. 20 with two episodes, with new episodes streaming weekly on Hulu until the series finale on Oct. 1.

Created by executive producer KJ Steinberg (This Is Us), the series hails from 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company. Executive producers also include Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, and Graham Littlefield (The Littlefield Company), along with Lewinsky (Alt Ending Productions); Knox and Chris Robinson (Knox Robinson Productions); and Michael Uppendahl, who also directs.

Grace Van Patten in A Twisted Narrative
Grace Van Patten delivers a mesmerizing performance in A Twisted Narrative, embodying a character caught in the blurred lines between memory and manipulation. With quiet intensity and emotional precision, she plays Evelyn Marlowe, a woman whose seemingly idyllic past begins to unravel as she uncovers inconsistencies in her own recollections.

Van Patten brings a haunting vulnerability to Evelyn, seamlessly shifting between charm and suspicion as the layers of the story peel away. Her portrayal is the emotional anchor of the film—a mix of fragility and resolve that keeps the audience questioning what’s real and what’s part of a carefully constructed illusion.

Whether Evelyn is the hero, the victim, or the mastermind, Grace Van Patten ensures that every scene is laced with tension, elegance, and an unsettling sense of déjà vu. In A Twisted Narrative, she doesn’t just play a role—she pulls viewers into a psychological maze and dares them to find the exit
